Ten years ago this week, on January 13 2013, The Rialto Report launched. With no fanfare, publicity, or social media announcement, we posted a brief article remembering (who else?) Jamie Gillis.
The vision for The Rialto Report was simple: to tell the stories of the so-called ‘Golden Age’ of adult films through new and unpublished research, photographs, and interviews with the participants themselves.
In the ten years since then:
- We have published 126 podcasts (which have been downloaded several million times), 516 posts – and 10,906 of you have left us comments on the website (thanks!)
- Our five most popular podcasts have been (in order): Christy Canyon, Ginger Lynn, Keisha, Kay Parker and Tom Byron
- Our most popular articles have been: the Avon series, our revelations about Dolly Sharp, the discovery of the identity of Navred Reef, the secret history behind ‘Centurians of Rome‘, the Deep Throat @ 50 articles, and the stories of Honeysuckle Divine, Marc Stevens, Wade Nichols, and Mary Stuart
- On a sad note, we have interviewed many pioneers who have since passed away, including Jamie Gillis, Harry Reems, Gloria Leonard, Jennifer Welles, Gerard Damiano, Johnnie Keyes, Candida Royalle, and Kay Parker – and many more. We hope their interviews with us make them live longer in our hearts and minds
- We have digitized hundreds of magazines from the 1960s-1980s, making them available for all on the website
- And… outside of the United States, The Rialto Report is apparently accessed most from Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, India, and… Iran (!)
The last ten years have been a wild, entertaining, and rewarding experience – and we only hope that we have conveyed some of that to our listeners and readers.
Most of all, we send thanks to everyone who we have interviewed or who has helped us over the years, and to everyone who has listened, read, commented, emailed, or liked what we have done – we appreciate you all.

This truly is the golden age of research of the golden age of adult film, and it is down to this one site.
The research is staggering, the writing is impressive, and the interviewing is beyond compare.

Thank you for everything you do and have done. I found you in 2014 while randomly looking for interviews with Georgina Spelvin and have never looked back. The treasure trove of information, interviews and ephemera is insane and I’ve appreciated every piece if it. Partial to the Veronica Hart and Susan McBain interviews, the latter because I found her such a charming presence in golden age adult. Hope the unpublished interviews make their way to air or to the site. Here’s to another ten years.
The story of the people behind the golden age of porn is as important as any history subject I can think of. The love, compassion and sheer work you guys have put into sharing the events, people and films of this important time is truly world class. Can’t believe it’s only been 10 years. Would love to learn more about the people behind Rialto Report and how/ why you even started doing this. As a Gen Xer who was going through puberty as the Golden Age of Adult Cinema was ending, I have really enjoyed the interviews and articles (and magazine scans, ahem). For me, the best porn ever was made in the 70s and 80s.
What impresses me most about the interviews is that they generally aren’t titillating. Instead they shine a bold light on the humanity of the subjects. The richness of their lives, & the struggles and victories they all experienced. And also the community aspects of the adult film scene is especially touching. Goes to show how many good, brilliant and fascinating people are from that industry. Rialto respected and treated their subjects with amazing dignity. Hats off!
Thanks for also showing us “then and now” of old film locations, as well as so many unpublished photos from personal collections or behind the scenes.
One day I imagine there will be a Rialto museum in NYC or California. Imagine that.
Thanks to Rialto, I even got to start an online pen pal friendship with a fave male star you interviewed and we both seem to enjoy the mild correspondence friendship.

Congrats on 10 years. There’s never been a dull subject covered and I really love the episodes that dive into the historical stories, every one of them a captivating listen perfectly enhanced by savvy musical choices. Looking at these photos gives me hopes that episodes featuring Vanessa del rio and Joey silvera will be released at some point. Especially Joey, I’ve wondered about him for close to 30 years and he seems to never do interviews. My favorite episodes to date have been centurions of rome, captain lust, whatever happened to Mary Stuart, fm Bradley and Jerry butler. Thanks so much for the great work and I’m looking forward to the next episode.

Looking at the photographs, I am again reminded of how time has its way with all of us. So many have passed on since 2013, as well. 2023 will likely add to that list.
I have followed the website since the fall of 2014. I look forward every Sunday to the new posting. (I do not begrudge you giving yourselves a little time off, however.) Looks like an interesting slate of interviews coming up. Being a Joe Sarno fan, the Ute Erickson interview particularly interests me. There are several names I would love to see in that list, yet I am thankful for we get in The Rialto Report.

Appreciate your podcasts and interviews giving an extra dimension to the Golden Age stars, directors, producers. Also, kudos for providing an avenue for financial assistance to those interview subjects facing financial hardship and being one of the few sites to mark their passing.
Greatly enjoyed your podcasts and articles on porn ‘mysteries’ and legends (fate of Kathy Harcourt, Dolly Sharp, Andrea True, Pat Barrington). I was saddened to read about Ron Jeremy’s medical and legal problems. I thought He was one of the few Golden Age legends that you did not have a chance to interview. Surprised to read above that there is an unpublished interview with Ron – look forward to your publishing this interview in the near future.

Congratulations on your ten year anniversary! I first came across this website when I read through the interview with Dave Ruby (who looked great for his age). It was at the very beginning of the pandemic so I had a lot of time to listen to the podcasts. I think you guys have done a wonderful job in humanizing and de-objectifying these performers. It really allowed me to go through the movies of the vintage age and appreciate just how much work went towards creating them.

The Rialto Report just did a three part Therese and Isabelle-related history in fall 2022… the first ever color photos, the locations, and an interview with Anna Gael. That’s already almost more than they’ve covered any other film….
I have enjoyed so many of your podcasts. Naming one favorite is nearly impossible ….. but the Dolly Sharp episode was as good as any top rated investigative journalism I have ever heard.

Rialto is absolutely, hands down my favorite website (but I sometimes wish it came to my mailbox in xeroxed in fanzine format). I’d put Tom Byron’s podcast as the most poignant and relatable. (His book must happen.) The Dolly Sharp series and the Avon coverage are a tie for best investigative journalism. And buried in all those great photos is a reference to the yet-to-be-published Marc Wallice interview. That one will a stem winder of an interview. Happy 10th, ya’ll!

There is nothing I can add that has already been said in previous comments. Simply put, this site is off the charts incredible.
I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the Marc Wallice picture. I will be anxiously awaiting that interview to be posted.
Marc was one of the best adult performers ever. He was always so passionate in his scenes. You can tell he enjoyed the women and loved his job. Also, if you saw the recent porn doc with him, you will be enlightened to the fact that he never knowingly performed with HIV. Sharon Mitchell jumped the gun and screwed up big time. In a nutshell, it was a paper work mistake made by an employee at the clinic.
It is good to see Marc smiling and looking genuinely happy. At the end of that doc, he stated he was running out of money and on the verge of being homeless. I hope that is not the case and he is doing better.
As a hetro fan who admires the male talent, I am also looking forward to the Jessie Adams interview and hoping there is one with Joey Silvera. Despite Joey being in the industry for several decades, he remains a bit of a mystery. I would love to know his background and how he got started in the adult biz.
