In 1981, director Henri Pachard and writer Joel Bender (of unsung B-movie urban warfare classic “Tenement”) teamed up for ‘A Girl’s Best Friend‘, a XXX rated film featuring Juliet Anderson and Ron Jeremy as con artists after a ultra-valuable diamond owned by a wealthy man.
In addition to a cast that includes Veronica Hart, Bobby Astyr, Robert Kerman, Merle Michaels, Veri Knotty, Dave Ruby, and Rialto Report favorite, Kurt Mann, the production assistant was Glenn Kenny, future critic and editor at Premiere until it ceased publication in 2007, and film critic who wrote for MSN, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, and Entertainment Weekly.
The Rialto Report gained access to unpublished and rarely-seen photographs from the production, and we present a selection below.
Quality X recently released a deluxe remastered Blu-ray edition of this film, along with an entertaining and informative feature length audio commentary and liner note booklet, both by Glenn Kenny.
