‘Through The Looking Glass’ (1975): Behind The Scenes

Through the Looking Glass‘ (1975) has received a good amount of coverage on The Rialto Report. We have featured podcasts with director Jonas Middleton, male actors Jamie Gillis and Jeffrey Hurst, and cinematographer Joao Fernandes. We also revisited the original shooting location to see what it looks like today.

This week we have a series of previously unpublished stills taken from the film set.

One of the true cross-over adult films of the 1970s – was it a horror film, was it a porn film, was it an art-house film?

Whichever way you look at it, it still holds up and these pictures are an amazing insight into the making of a classic.

The last picture says it all……

What an enigma Catherine Erhardt / Burgess is…. please do an interview with her. I love these photo essays.

Love the marquee for “Once Is Not Enough” in the same pic as the vintage car.

I need to see this again. Watched it rather haphazardly (as in not paying full attention) close to 30 years ago.

Mrs. Puppybreath recalls more of the same in the 9/76 issue of ‘Penthouse’ (an article on the film).

Another stunning find… after years of the wilderness for the history of XXX (shitty blogs, stultifying film reviews, bad and unverified information) thanks very much for all you do. Amazing.

I saw a reference from a ‘film historian’ on Facebook who stated that Desiree Cousteau has just died. Say it ain’t so…

I heard about that too. The offender quickly removed the inaccurate information without any explanation after he was schooled by the good folks of The Rialto Report.

Apparently they’re in touch with her so let’s hope a podcast will follow one day.

      Hi John,

The information that Desiree passed away recently is 100% untrue. It is unfortunate that this unsubstantiated rumor was spread. Desiree has been subject to many inaccurate rumors over the years and we are happy to correct this one.

There is a child actress in this movie as well. This could never happen nowadays

I’ve seen that before… a kid in the background of an adult movie in the 70’s.
What’s the actual law that would prevent that–on the surface it doesn’t seem exploitive.
You also have to consider that they don’t really make artistic porn movies anymore,
It’s two shaved chemically altered actors in a hotel room engaging in blowjob vomiting or some other disgusting act.

I wonder: does anyone know if Eve Every is, in fact, the ‘Eva Everything’ who reached high on the 1980s pop charts with ‘Pills are Painless’?

Please advise at your earliest convenience.

    ‘Pills are painless,
    Steeless, stainless,
    And Bill is brainless….’
